Originally published on 02/22/2019 I've been cooking and baking for most of my life. My aunt told me I was cooking chicken dinners when I was only four years old! I love cooking and baking from scratch. When Larry and I got together, he taught me how to make bread by hand, which I had really only done one other time in my life. Pies, cookies, brownies, bread, pasta, you name it, I love making it! (Not my own picture) My mom knows I love to bake and make my own foods as much as possible, so she gave me her Hamilton Beach stand mixer before we left California. It was a good mixer, but really small. I sometimes had a hard time making a full batch of cookies because of that. Both my sister-in-law and mother-in-law have a KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer... I was rather jealous because of all the cool stuff it could do! Wood Badge - Part 1

Originally posted on 01/27/2018 Have you been through Wood Badge? Wood Badge is for Scouting leaders mostly, but anyone that wants premium leadership training should really go. I had never heard of it until Larry, my husband, told me about it several years ago. He had gone through, but because of some unfortunate events, he could be awarded his honor, known as beads. We were able to go buy them for him, and he was grateful to finally have them. I was an Assistant Den Leader and Assistant Webelos Leader back in the late 1990's. I loved every minute of it! We had tons of fun helping the boys to earn their different awards and even the World Conservation Award. I was sad when I had to quit because I was getting ready to move. I didn't realize that I could have asked a local unit to volunteer my time with after the move. I did my leadership through my church, and thought that's how scouting was done. An Unexpected Journey

Originally published 05/19/2019 As you know by now, I've been looking for another teaching position for this Fall. This past year has been rather tough on me (and in all honesty, hard on Larry, too!). Our finances have been at rock bottom. Our tempers have been rather short at times. Our supply of food runs thin sometimes, too. With a lot of help from our Church and family, we've made it through some very rocky spots this year! Green River, Wyoming As you also know, I've been going all over creation for interviews for these jobs. We've been to Utah multiple times, and even had a trip to Wyoming recently... that was a crazy trip back in 60mph wind and torrential rains! On the way out of that particular interview, I knew that I wouldn't get that job. I didn't feel a connection to the people in the room.
